Preparing For The Season Ahead
There have been some big changes afoot at LJM – most notably that our city centre boutique sadly closed its doors last month and the hat making operation has taken up residence in my spare room!
As some of you may know Laura James Millinery is a one (wo)man band and that’s how I’ve run it for the past four years, so with the prospect of new premises and large overheads on the horizon I was able to make the decision to work from home with minimal fuss (she says after many laborious hours carrying mannequin heads and boxes up and down flights of stairs)
And after a somewhat difficult few months that saw the steady stream of business I’d cultivated become more sporadic, I made the decision to focus on one Spring/Summer Millinery collection rather than doing Autumn/Winter too.
If you’re familiar with the brand you may well be wondering where our signature velvet bows and turbans are this year?! Sadly as I’m off to Asia for pretty much the whole of December I won’t be taking part in any of the Christmas fairs:( so for those who have asked or were wondering I won’t be at the Winter Arts Market on the 1st December!
Onto the good news! I’m working on some lovely new shapes and designs for the spring racing season next year, along with new colourful summer turbans & headwraps. So even though my physical shop is no longer in action new designs will still be available to buy online ready for the Grand National Festival in April, and I will be taking VERY limited bespoke orders so if you want something made especially to match – get in touch ASAP! There’s no time like the present, especially when it comes to planning race day outfits.
I hope everyone has a wonderful end to 2018 and enjoys this festive time of year! I can’t wait to show you the new pieces and start planning for a Race Day fashion show to get you all races ready.
Make sure you’re following us on Instagram & Facebook to see all the latest news and sneak peeks of the new collection in progress!
